Why We Need Hobby Bloggers

ree

In an online world which is becoming increasingly dominated by 'professional' influencers, hobby blogging is taking a back seat in favour of perfectly curated feeds, Photoshop and sponsored content.

Is this reality, though? As influencers move further and further away from their roots (who remembers filtering everything on Instagram with Valencia and hashtagging "throwback Thursday"?!), some of them are alienating a once-loyal audience, leaving a neat little space for hobby bloggers to step back into the online limelight (try saying that three times fast).

Writing for fun translates to your readers. If you love what you're writing, it shows. You can write in your own voice - mine includes lots of punctuation, sarcasm and self-deprecation.

If you love what you're writing about, you'll attract a genuine and enthusiastic audience who love the things you love. Whether you blog about parenting, video games or fashion, you're guaranteed to find a like minded community of readers who'll engage with your content and love it just as much as you do.

While racking up page views and Instagram followers can be satisfying (and potentially lucrative!), you should remember why you started blogging before you get caught up in the glitz and glamour of #ads!
